Confused Nigeria Government On The Run As Court Postpones Nnamdi Kanu's Trial Indefinitely

The high profile trial of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu by the Nigeria government has been put on hold till further notice; this is according to a reliable information obtained by Family Writers Press. The controversial trial of the IPOB Leader and three other Biafra activists was scheduled to have resumed on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, prior to this latest adjournment by the Federal High Court Abuja. A Counsel to one of the defendants disclosed that he has obtained a notification letter pertaining to the recent development. He revealed that the case is likely to resume later in October this year, even though no specific date has been chosen for the continuation of the trial. Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has said Nigeria should be begging Igbos for forgiveness and not threatening them. According to Fani-Kayode, the people from the South East need to be apologized to, after “we killed 3 million Igbos in the war including 1 million children.” He wrote on his Twitter account: “We killed 3 million Igbos in the war including 1 million children. We should be begging them for forgiveness and not threatening them.” Before tweeting that, Fani-Kayode posted a cryptic tweet that read: “O Lord honor thy word. That which u said will happen that will shake this nation let it happen quickly. Nnamdi Kanu Has Not Violated Any Bail Conditions, Says Lawyer

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu on Wednesday declined to comment or answer any question as it relates to the agitations by Biafra loyalists. His lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, however, said his client has not violated any court order or bail conditions, saying it was within his fundamental rights to receive and interact with people. Ejiofor, who spoke during an interview with Channels Television in Umuahia, the Abia State capital maintained that his client has not instigated any violence. He noted that though the agitation for Biafra was not unlawful, his primary concern was what the charge was before the court as there was no substantial evidence to charge the IPOB leader.

The plight of Bakassi indigenes has taken a turn for the worse as hundreds of them were chased out of Cameroon with many feared dead. Those of them who made it to Ikang in Cross Rivers State on Thursday arrived with tales of suffering and despair. They were among the Bakassi indigenes that chose to remain in Old Bakassi after the International Court of Justice ceded the oil-rich peninsula to Cameroon in 2002. According to them, they were chased out by Cameroonian Gendarmes for not being able to pay a tax levy of N100,000 imposed on them by the Cameroonian government. The returnees arrived Ikang Local Government Area of Cross River State at midnight on Wednesday and many others are presently scattered in different locations in neighbouring Akwa Ibom State and communities around Ikang.
