Some 250 Israeli rabbis, including Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, sent a thank you letter to US President Donald Trump praising him for his decision to recognize The letter, intiated by the Safed's Chief Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu and delivered by Yossi Dagan, the head of the Samaria Regional Council, told the American president, "You have a rare privilege to be the first president to recognize Jerusalem as the eternal capital of the State of Israel." "We are privileged to be living in a generation that is repeatedly witnessing the words of the prophets coming true," said the rabbis, "Jews have made aliyah and are continuing to come to the land of Israel from all corners of the world. Israel triumphs over its enemies time after time, the mountains of Israel offer generous bounty and the economy is booming." Britain joins calls for emergency meeting at the UN over Trump’s embassy move

The United Kingdom has joined at least eight countries in calling for a UN Security Council meeting to convene on Friday morning in response to President Trump’s announcement that the US embassy is moving to Jerusalem. Britain is understood to have joined France, Bolivia, Egypt, Italy, Senegal, Sweden, and Uruguay in requesting the special meeting. The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres’ is expected to address the Security Council on Friday. Earlier in a statement, Mr. Guterres said that Jerusalem was the final status issue and must be resolved through direct negotiations. “In this moment of great anxiety, I want to make it clear: there is no alternative to the two-state solution. There is no Plan B,” he said, adding that he has consistently spoken out against any unilateral measures that would “jeopardise” the prospect of peace for Israelis and Palestinians. “Jerusalem is a final status issue that must be resolved through direct negotiations between the two parties on

The West’s double-standards over Jerusalem embassy

Image
Israel is the only country in the world where foreign nations have set up their embassy outside of the capital. If you want to find the British embassy in the United States, for example, you’ll find it in the US capital of Washington DC. Likewise, if you want to visit the US Embassy in France, you’ll find it in the French capital of Paris. This is the normal practice across the world, except when it comes to Israel where foreign governments have set up their embassies not in the capital, but instead in its second city, Tel Aviv. No country other than Israel is told what the capital city should be. Some would argue that the reason governments take this position is because of the disputed claim to Jerusalem. However, this is not true because the West is not treating Israel and the Palestinians equally. Let’s take the United Kingdom for example. The UK’s embassy to Israel is in Israel’s second city, Tel Aviv. However, Britain’s consul to the Palestinian Authority is not in R

President Trump announces US Embassy move to JERUSALEM

After months of speculation, US President Donald Trump has followed through with his election promise of moving the US embassy to Jerusalem.  The United States will now become the first country to relocate its embassy to Jerusalem in a move that effectively gives American recognition to the Israeli capital. Earlier this year Christians United for Israel’s founder, Pastor John Hagee, joined with 60 other Christian leaders and organisations in signing a letter to President Trump. CUFI’s message was simple: “We believe the time has come, at long last, to uphold American law by moving the U.S. Embassy to Israel’s eternal and indivisible capital city of Jerusalem.” American Christian Leaders for Israel organised the letter, which encouraged President Trump to fulfil his campaign promise to move the embassy. CUFI Action Fund Director, Gary Bauer said, “Congress voted in 1995 to relocate the U.S. Embassy to Israel’s capital city.  It was not a controversial issue.  It passed

US President Donald Trump will announce in a speech today that he is formally recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, while asking the State Department to formulate a plan for moving the US embassy there from Tel Aviv. The White House officials confirmed the announcement Tuesday evening (early hours of this morning in the UK) ending months of speculation after first making the commitment during his election campaign. The United States will become the first country to relocate its embassy to Jerusalem in a move that effectively gives American recognition to the Israeli capital. Earlier this year Christians United for Israel’s founder, Pastor John Hagee, joined with 60 other Christian leaders and organisations in signing a letter to President Trump. CUFI’s message was simple: “We believe the time has come, at long last, to uphold American law by moving the U.S. Embassy to Israel’s eternal and indivisible capital city of Jerusalem.” American Christian Leaders for Israel or

Africa's gain, for Israel to be reinstated in AU - Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called on African leaders to reinstate Israel’s observer status in the African Union (AU). Israel lost its observer status in 2002 when the Organisation of African Union was dissolved and replaced by the AU. “Israel should once again be an observer state of the African Union … I fervently believe that it’s in your interest too, in the interest of Africa. And I hope all of you will support that goal,” Netanyahu told West African leaders at the 51st  ECOWAS  Summit of Heads of State in Liberia’s capital Monrovia on Sunday. “I ask for your support in rejecting anti-Israel bias at the United Nations, and in bodies such as the General Assembly,  UNESCO  and the Human Rights Council,” he appealed. Israel should once again be an observer state of the African Union ... I fervently believe that it’s in your interest too, in the interest of Africa. And I hope all of you will support that goal. He likened Israel to Africa and said a chang
