The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, has ordered the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, to “overhaul the management and activities” of notorious Police unit, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). The entire populace, more especially people of south of the country [Nigeria] have been robbed, kidnaped, abused of extra judicial killings, extortion by intimidation, harassment to the people making them to live in constant fear that force everybody to go to social media to cry out. In the statement issued by Osinbajo’s spokesperson, Mr. Laolu Akande, the Acting President ordered the IGP to shut down the unit “with immediate effect”.
