Directive on How Buhari Should be Addressed -FG

The federal government has released a new directive on how President Muhammadu Buhari should be addressed at formal functions. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, gave the directive in a circular sent to ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) of the federal government. “Government has observed with concern the inconsistent manner in which the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria is addressed during official and private functions. It has therefore become necessary to have a standard format for addressing him at such formal occasions,” Mustapha wrote in the circular dated January 26. “To this end, Mr. President shall henceforth be addressed as ‘‘Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.’’ except in purely armed forces programmes, where “Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Federal Republic of Nigeria” will be added. “All concerned persons should accordingly be guided and ensure strict compliance with the c

Military Issues Arrest Warrant For IPOB Coordinator

There are strong indications that authorities of the Nigerian Army have issued a warrant of arrest for one Azubuike Ibe, who is alleged to be the Coordinator for the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), for Ariaria Zone in Aba, Abia State. An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said Ibe escaped before the security agents, comprising the military, the police and operatives of the Department of State Security Service, (DSS), stor med his resident, located at No 22, Erondu Street, Aba, Abia State, to effect his arrest. Ibe’s name was handed over to the security agencies by three top IPOB officials, who were suspended by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the group in early 2017. Kanu got information that the suspended officials collected bribe from the Nigerian government and had been sabotaging the Biafran struggle, which allegedly led to a number of IPOB officials being killed. Nigeria Finally Confirms 110 Unaccounted Dapchi School Girls

The federal government has confirmed that 110 students of Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State, are yet to be accounted for, after insurgents believed to be from a faction of the terror group, Boko Haram, invaded the school last Monday. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced the figure after a meeting  on Sunday , in Damaturu, the state capital, between a federal government delegation and representatives of key stakeholders, including the state government, the college, the parents, security agencies and Bursari Local Government, where Dapchi is situated. Mohammed in a statement said based on the briefings from the Principal of the College, Hajia Adama Abdulkarim, and the state Commissioner for Education, Hon. Mohammed Lamin, 906 students – out of whom 110 have not been accounted for – were in the school on the day of the attack. Scores Killed in Kaduna Muslim-Christian Clash

An unconfirmed number of people were reportedly killed and several houses set ablaze in Kasuwan Magani village, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State Monday, following a violent clash between Muslims and Christian youths in the community. Another unspecified number of people were also said to have sustained injuries as the youth engaged each other with dangerous weapons. There was no official confirmation on the casualties but unconfirmed reports said about 12 persons died during the clash, which was said to have occurred at about 10.30 a.m. Monday. There were conflicting reasons for the cause of the outbreak in violence, with one version claiming that some Christian men went about beating Christian girls who were dating Muslim boys. Another version claimed that a Christian girl was abducted and converted to Islam and taken to the residence of the Sarkin (Chief of) Kasuwan Magani. Mamudu Hassan, one of the accused persons standing trial over unlawful importation of 661 sophisticated pump action rifles into the country last December, yesterday told a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, that he paid a sum of N1 million to officials of the Department of State Security, DSS, and other security agencies to smuggle the guns out of Apapa Ports. Director-General of Department of State Service, DSS, Mr Lawal Daura Mamudu, a retired Assistant Comptroller of Customs, stated this in a recorded video during his interrogation by men of the DSS.
