"I can fight the lgbo man's battle because I understand his ways of life and culture to a very large extent because my grandmother is lgbo and I can speak lgbo language well too, I can understand them, I can work with them and if I am working with them and I make decisions for my people and lgbo people, I won't go wrong because I know what to do." —Annkio Brigg s

L eaders from the North Central states, on the platform of Middle Belt Forum (MBF), have called on the African Union (AU), the United States Government and the International Criminal Court (ICC) to halt what they described as “ethnic cleansing” in Nigeria. Addressing newsmen in Abuja, yesterday, President of the forum, Dr. Pogu Bitrus, who spoke on behalf of others, said the indifference shown by the AU since the killings started was worrisome. Although he acknowledged the United States President, Donald Trump, spoke out against killings of Christians in Nigeria, the leaders called on governments to mount pressure on the Nigerian Government and President Muhammadu Buhari, to take steps. He said: “We call on the African Union to condemn and call to order the Nigerian government for failing in its responsibility to protect the peoples of the Middle Belt. “The African Union’s silence is no longer golden as Nigeria has been on the road to the genocide in Rwanda; with the African

STATEMENT BY THE FULANI NATIONALITY MOVEMENT, (FUNAM) WE REMAIN SOLID AND UNSHAKEN BY THE WIND Our attention has been drawn to the series of campaigns being waged against the FULANI NATIONALITY following the killings in PLATEAU where some civilians who have been tormenting the FULANI nation were justifiable hacked down; Why is it convenient for Nigerians to condemn the killings of Birom but fail to condemn the killings of Fulani people? We frown at the conscious attempts to demonize the FULANI nation by the media and their collaborators; We wish to make the following categorical statements on the Plateau incidence: 1) The killings in Barkin Ladi was motivated by previous killings of FULANI men and women by Birom youths in collaboration with certain minority ethnic groups in PLATEAU. At the resumed hearing in Abuja today (June 26, 2016) on the bail bond forfeiture order to show cause made against Nnamdi Kanu’s sureties, the Federal High Court ordered the Attorney General of the Federation to respond to an application challenging the court’s jurisdiction filed by Barrister Aloy Ejimakor on behalf of the second surety to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the missing leader of IPOB. Aloy Ejimakor is representing Emmanuel Shalom Ben Madu, the Jewish high priest who together with Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe and Tochukwu Uchendu stood surety to Kanu. Abaribe’s lawyer, Chukwuma Ume (SAN) had stood in court and aligned himself with Barrister Ejimakor’s Preliminary Objection to jurisdiction. A summary of Barrister Ejimakor’s argument is that before the court can decide on sureties forfeiting their bail bonds, they are “entitled, as a matter of law, to be put on Notice or served with the evidence used in obtaining the order to show cause before they (the sureties) can be required to pr

Eighty-six people have been killed in attacks by suspected nomadic herders against farming communities in restive central  Nigeria , police have said. Sunday’s discovery in the Barkin Ladi area of Plateau state came after days of violence apparently sparked by an attack by ethnic Berom farmers on Fulani herders on Thursday. The state police commissioner, Undie Adie, said a search of Berom villages in the area following clashes on Saturday found 86 people had been killed. Adie told reporters six people were also injured and 50 houses razed. Bodies of those who died have been released to their families, he added. The deaths are the latest in a long-running battle for land and resources that is putting Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari, under pressure as elections approach next year. The violence – fuelled by ethnic, religious and political allegiances – has killed thousands over several decades. Analysts believe it could become Nigeria’s biggest security concern, eclip
