Southern Senators Demand Implementation of 2014 Confab Report

Image
In a display of unity, the Southern Senators’ Forum, saturday, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately commence measures aimed at implementing the 2014 National Conference report. Rising from a three-day conference in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, the senators from different political parties tasked President Buhari to immediately set up a platform for governors, members of the National Assembly, Houses of Assembly, political leaders, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders, to discuss the report’s implementation mechanism. The conference was convoked by the Peoples Democratic Party–led    administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan. The All Progressive Congress, which was then in the opposition, had boycotted the conference, on which basis the current APC-led government has consistently maintained that it would not implement the report. Political analysts have, however, argued that the National Assembly could on its own take key recommenda

Buhari Is A Genocidal Military Dictator – US Paper Berates UN

Image
Below is the report by renowned American lawyer, Bruce Fein on Huffington Post titled “United Nations Lends Megaphone to Genocidal Military Dictator Buhari”, read: The United Nations will live in infamy for lending its megaphone on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, to Nigeria’s elected military dictator Muhammadu Buhari. The Hausa-Fulani Muslim strongman is currently orchestrating genocide as defined by the Genocide Convention against Nigeria’s 50 million Igbo people because of their ethnicity and unwavering devotion to Christianity. Buhari’s genocide marks the culmination of a long train of Biafran subjugation by radical Hausa-Fulani Islamic terrorists. The dictator’s power is anchored to an illegitimate constitution decreed by a military dictator in 1999 to hold the Christian Biafran people in bondage to Hausa-Fulani Muslims. Nigeria’s constitution has never been approved by Nigerians. Last June, Buhari tacitly endorsed a Hausa-Fulani threat to expel by force and violence and to

Restructuring Nigeria Is Inevitable – Ekweremadu

Image
Deputy President of the Senate, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, says restructuring Nigeria is inevitable for all-inclusive advantages it will confer on federating units and enhancement of national unity. Ekweremadu stated this at a two-day Retreat by Southern Senators Forum in Calabar on Friday, and dismissed the fear in certain quarters that restructuring would cause the break-up of the country. He explained that restructuring was not the same as exclusive resource control as the renewed and aggressive search for oil around the Lake Chad, Sokoto and Benue River Basins in recent times appeared to suggest. According to him, whereas federating units will have more control over their resources in a restructured Nigeria, there would always be an Equalisation Fund to ensure that every region thrives above a reasonable threshold. “In fact, oil and gas is among the least strategic endowments of the nation today and in the years ahead. Oil is fast losing its import in the global economy. “M

Photograph: Siphiwe Sibeko/Reuters A South African appeal court has more than doubled the former Paralympian Oscar Pistorius’s prison sentence for murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. The supreme court of appeal (SCA) increased Pistorius’s sentence from  six years in prison  to 13 years and five months. Pistorius killed Steenkamp, a model and law graduate, by firing four bullets from a handgun through a closed toilet door in his luxury home in Pretoria on Valentine’s Day 2013. He claimed he had mistaken her for a burglar. Steenkamp’s family welcomed the longer sentence and said it showed that justice could prevail in  South Africa . “This is an emotional thing for them. They just feel that their trust in the justice system has been confirmed this morning,” Tania Koen, a spokeswoman for the Steenkamp family, said on Friday. The SCA said Pistorius “displays a lack of remorse, and does not appreciate the g

Citing Quran, Kuwaiti pundit says Israel ‘a legitimate state,’ not an occupier

Image
Kuwaiti writer Abdullah Al-Hadlaq on Alrai TV (YouTube screenshot) In a rare public move, a Kuwaiti writer has urged Arab recognition of the State of Israel as a legitimate, “independent sovereign state,” and Israelis as a people with a right to their land. In an interview to Kuwait’s Alrai TV channel on Sunday, translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute, Abdullah Al-Hadlaq said “there is no occupation. There is a people returning to its promised land.” Al-Hadlaq’s comments elicited a backlash on Arabic websites and on social media, where commentators variously labeled him a “fool,” a “traitor,” and a Zionist agent. Comments to  a Facebook post  with the Alrai video were laden with expletives. In the interview, Al-Hadlaq expressed admiration for the Jewish state and its values. He called for a rejection of the prominent regional narrative that Israel was “plundered” from the Arabs, describing this as an outdated mentality. “When the State of Israel was establishe

Greed And Envy Reason For Pulling Nnamdi Kanu Down

Image
What I see in them is desperation to ouster Nnamdi Kanu so that they will answer the supreme leader of IPOB. Greed and envy are eating them up, the name "supreme leader" is suffocating them hence, they want to do everything to give Nnamdi Kanu a bad name to enable them to deceive Biafrans. People like us that knows what is going on will not allow such evil plots to prevail. We must change this mentality of bringing our own best down. I won’t be a partaker of such destructive plot and I will fight to make sure that this evil plot did not see the light of the day.  If you are not qualified to lead, do not force yourself on the people of Biafra. Nnamdi Kanu before our very own eyes has seen it all. He has been put to test, he was tortured, in fact, he died several times in the hands of Nigerian DSS, but he remained strong and steadfast.  However, we should stop completely every move to bringing our own best down, seriously we must stop this evil. Till today, Northern elde

Anyim Still In EFCC Custody Under Inhuman, Degrading Conditions – Lawyer

Image
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, says he is still the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, contrary to the impression being created that he has been released. In a statement on Friday issued by his lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), he denied having been freed, saying he was not allowed to go despite the administrative bail. The statement, titled, “Anyim is still in the EFCC Gulag, kept under inhuman and degrading conditions,” Ozekhome said the report of Anyim’s release was misleading. He said, “The truth is that Anyim is still held in custody till this minute, in spite of fulfilling administrative bail conditions laid out for him, including deposit of his passport and being compelled, under duress and undue influence, to sign all manners of self-incriminating and property-stripping documents against his will. “In spite of these and the clear provisions of sections 35 and 36 of the Nigerian constitution and the Administrati

Anambra Election: Less Than 100,000 Voted – Eastern Consultative Assembly

Image
A South-East group, the Eastern Consultative Assembly, ECA, has faulted the poll figures released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as the outcome of the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State. It is recalled that the election was eventually won by Governor Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.  Reacting to the outcome of the polls, Evangelist Elliot Ugochukwu-Uko, who is the secretary of the ECA said the result of the poll was padded. Ugochukwu-Uko, who is also the founder, Igbo Youth Movement (IYM) as well as Deputy Secretary, Igbo Leaders of Thought (ILT) said the figure was inflated to deceive the international community into believing that the election was not boycotted in line with calls by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. According to him, “a very dangerous precedent is being set by Government agents, apologists and all sorts of hypocrites and sycophants, who are applauding the Sat. Nov. 18 Governo

Kanu Should Opt For Dialogue, Not Secession, Says Gowon

Image
A former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (retd.), has advised the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, to seek dialogue with the Federal Government rather than agitate to address issues affecting the South-East. The octogenarian advised the IPOB leader not to seek disintegration as it could lead to loss of lives. Gowon stated this on Friday while presenting his paper titled, “Unity in diversity: Responding to the current challenges of nation-building in Nigeria,” at the 2017 Distinguished Annual Lecture of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Jos, Plateau State. He said, “My young friend, Nnamdi Kanu, was not born during the civil war, which was declared ‘no victor, no vanquished.’ It is sad to recall what happened at that time; the best way to seek redress is through dialogue. “Kanu should pursue a healthy conversation on issues he is not comfortable with as it affects his people; this is the only way we can collaborate effectively an

At Last, Atiku Resigns From APC To Join PDP

Image
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has formally resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party he joined hands with others to from in 2014.  In a statement Atiku personally signed Friday morning, he said his reason for quitting the ruling party was because of arbitrariness and unconstitutionality that have gripped the party. “Be that as it may be, after due consultation with my God, my family, my supporters and the Nigerian people whom I meet in all walks of life, I, Atiku Abubakar, Waziri Adamawa, hereby tender my resignation from the All Progressives Congress while I take time to ponder my future,” he said. Defending his reasons for quitting the APC, Atiku said that the injustices and failure to abide by its own constitution which had dogged the then Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have now been replicated in the APC, while the PDP appears to have purged itself of the malice. According to him, “While other parties have purged themselves of the arbitrariness and

Senator Abaribe Drags Buratai To Court To Produce Kanu, Demands N10m For Damages

Image
The Senator representing Abia South, Eyinnaya Abaribe, has accused the Chief of Army, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, of frustrating his role as a surety in the bail granted the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, by a Federal High Court in Abuja. Abaribe stated this in a fresh motion he filed before the court where he and Kanu’s two other sureties had been ordered to explain the IPOB leader’s whereabouts. The senator had earlier filed a motion seeking to be discharged as Kanu’s surety, but the trial judge, Justice Binta Nyako, directed during the previous proceedings of October 17, 2017, that the senator could not withdraw his suretyship until Kanu was produced before the court. Kanu, who is being prosecuted alongside others on charges bordering on treasonable felony, was on Monday absent from court for the second time after the alleged invasion of his home in Abia State by soldiers on September 14, and had been declared missing by his family since the

ECOWAS Court Rubbishes Nigerian Govt Over Nnamdi Kanu

Image
The Economic Community of West African States’ court has berated the Nigerian Government for always filing fresh motions in a bid to frustrate a fundamental right enforcement suit filed by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu. The regional court described the action of the Nigerian Government as unacceptable. Speaking during today’s hearing, one of the judges on the three-man panel, Justice Alioune Sall said they were not in a Nigerian court but an international court which has a different way and “the process of bringing new documents every day is not allowed here.” Sall said this after Kanu’s counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor told the court that it had scheduled today’s sitting for definite hearing. Ejiofor said, however, “two days ago, my attention was drawn to a new process filed by the Federal Government challenging the authority of the court to hear the case.” Describing the process filed by the Federal Government as baseless, Kanu’s counsel alleged
