Panic grips ministers over likely cabinet reshuffle today
This is just as Acting President Yemi Osinbajo
is today scheduled to inaugurate the two ministers-designate, Stephen
Ocheni (Kogi) and Suleiman Hassan (Gombe).
The inauguration is billed to take place at 11:00am inside the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa.
Some ministers, who spoke to our correspondent, said they had no idea yet on what would be their fate should a reshuffle is effected.
They also hinted that they read story of today's inauguration of the two ministers-designate in the newspapers.
Osinbajo's spokesman, Mr Laolu Akande, waited till 10:00 pm yesterday before tersely confirming via Twitter that the inauguration would take place today.
Akande tweeted the information hours after Daily Trust had reported that the event would hold this morning.
Speaking to our correspondent this morning, a minister from the Southwest said: "In this kind of circumstance, anything can happen. We are all waiting for anything."
Another cabinet member from the north central zone said they were "anxious about whether the acting president would carry out some minor cabinet reshuffle today. Let's wait and see."
Presidential spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina, had told State House reporters on Tuesday that nobody could speak for President Buhari on whether there would be a cabinet shakeup.
"In terms of whether there will be a shakeup of government or not, the President is the head of the government and it is his prerogative. So, nobody can speak for him on that," he said.
