Court gives judgement on man who named his dog Buhari

A magistrate court has struck out all charges against Joachim Iroko, the 41-year old Nigerian who named his dog, Buhari in 2016.

O.O. Adebo, the chief magistrate, ruled that the prosecutor failed to substantiate its case against Iroko and thus cleared out all the charges against him on Tuesday in a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Sango-Otta. Premium Times reported.

The case which spurred several controversies was reported to the police by one Haliru Umar from Sokoto State in August 2016 for breach of peace.

He was accused of harbouring hatred for President Muhammadu Buhari and his arrest trended on social media with nationwide criticism.

Recall that Iroko raised alarm about threat to his life when he observed strange individuals lurking within the precinct of their residential apartment in Sango Ota, Ogun state.

The accused lawyer expressed delight over the judgement and praised the court for its ruling.
