Abductors release DPO, orderly after collecting N5m ransom
The Divisional Police Officer attached to the Sarkin Pawa division, in Munya local government area of Niger state, Amos Aliyu and his orderly have been released by his captors.
Our correspondent learnt that the abductors released the officers after collecting N5 million ransom.
The chairman of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Munya local government, Alhaji Ibrahim Kadi confirmed to journalists in Minna that Superintendent of Police Aliyu and the orderly were released in Gwagwa area of Shiroro local government of the state.
A source close to the DPO’s family confirmed his release and the payment of N5 million ransom by the abductors to our correspondent on phone.
Our correspondent sighted the vehicles conveying the rescued officers at the gate of the state police command an hour later.
Gunmen had seize the DPO, his orderly and four others Sunday morning and demanded a ransom of N16 million.
