The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has disclosed that a total of 32.70 billion barrels of crude oil valued at N118.49 trillion were produced between 1961 and 2014. The highest barrels of crude production was recorded in 2005 with 918.66 million barrels valued at N6.14 billion, while the lowest was recorded in 1961 with 16.80 million barrels valued at N18.73 million. Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade has stated that the enforcement of the open-grazing law in neighbouring Benue State is causing havoc in his state. Ayade made the claims on Monday in Calabar, the state capital after suspected herdsmen from Benue invaded a community in Cross River, killing one and injuring others. Eleven people were Tuesday night shot dead by gunmen along Rim, Riyom Local Government Area of northern Plateau State. According to the Police Public Relations Office of the Plateau State Police Command, Terna Tyopev, the victims were returning from a village market in Makera when they were attacked by the gunmen. Tyopev added that police were on the trail of the attackers. “Eleven people who were returning from a weekly village market of Makera were shot dead at about 7:30 p.m., four others are injured.” “No arrest yet, but investigation are ongoing, and we shall definitely get to the roots of this,” the spokesperson said. At the moment, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack and there were no immediate suspicions on the identity of the attackers. Few days back,  two persons were killed and two others injured  in a fresh attack on Jol village in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, has advised Nigerians to stop playing politics influenced by tribal sentiments. Museveni stressed that Nigeria can achieve necessary growth and development when its leaders avoid politics of tribal sentiment.  He gave the call while delivering a lecture at the National Defence College, Abuja. Former Minister of National Planning, Professor Abubakar Sulaiman, has dared President Muhammadu Buhari to get ready to account for the deaths of members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and about 400 members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (Shiites), killed under his administration.
